Elements...

Every wedding has 'elements' such as the exchanging of rings and throwing the bouquet. But today, clients are becoming more interested in special ceremonial elements that add a unique aspect to the event - something to make the occasion even more memorable.

Elements can also be a great way of involving friends and family in the Ceremony.

Here are just some examples...

Handfasting

The origin of ‘tying the knot’. A Pagan/Celtic tradition where ribbons or cloth are draped over the couple’s clasped hands and then tied into a knot symbolising the bringing together of the two hearts in a union of strength and unity forever. A modern day Medieval Celtic Handfasting is a beautiful romantic gesture, shared between couples, to celebrate their love, in engagement, commitment to be together or to celebrate the number of years they have spent together.

Ring Warming

In the wedding ring warming ceremony the couple’s wedding rings are passed amongst the attending guests in a pouch or other container. Guests are invited to pass on a thought or good wish to the couple as the rings pass through their hands.

Wine/Champagne/Spirit Element

In the wine ceremony the couple pour one glass of white wine and one glass of red wine to create a blush that they will both drink from. Other beverages can be used in replacement of wine.

Other clients go for champagne (pink and white) and some even have the Champagne Sabre!

Unity Candle

Like Handfasting the unity candle element has been adopted into faith marriage ceremonies from Pagan weddings rituals as both hold a universal meaning. It symbolises the joining of the couple in marriage, as well as the joining of their two original families. The couple’s mothers can light their individual candles for them as a symbol to show that they are moving on from their family to create a new family together.

Unity Sand Element

The unity sand ceremony is ideal for any wedding. This ceremony option symbolises the joining of the couple. Family celebrants often suggest this ritual when there are young children involved and the couple is looking for a ritual to involve the children.

First Kiss Last Kiss

This is a ceremony option that involves the mothers of the couple. They are called upon to join the bride(s) and groom(s) near the end of the ceremony. The mothers gave their children their first kiss when they came into the world and they will give their last kiss as single individuals before sending them on their new journey as husband, wife, or life partner.
